The Birchwood is a charming hotel in a fabulous location along St. Pete's Beach Drive, across the street from Vinoy Park and the waterfront. We had an incredible dinner at Birch and Vine ~ 5 people and EVERY dish was a winner, none of us could decide which was our favorite and our server Javier made the evening. As a guest of the hotel, you receive a discount 20% in the restaurant, which we were unaware of until after our dinner. When we mentioned it to the manager the next morning, he exhibited excellent customer service by offering to find the dinner bill from the previous night and apply the credit to our room charge, which is very impressive in today's world. Gorgeous room and spacious, beautifully appointment bathroom with a shower and clawfoot tub that is swoon worthy. Delicious breakfast the previous morning included.

The Birchwood is ideally located for easy access to Beach Drive, wonderful restaurants, bars, shopping, museums, the pier, walking, biking, and a gorgeous park full of others taking advantage of the perfect weather to enjoy a stroll, walking a dog, or having a picnic. The small hotel itself is remarkably historic while being beautifully updated. The Burch and Vine Restaurant offered delightful cuisine, including room service for those evenings that we just wanted to enjoy our plush room and a good movie. The roof top Canopy Bar offered a beautiful view of the water across the park.

The location and the staff and the room were excellent! We walked to food and bars and to Vinoy Park for the Reggae Rise Up festival every day. The front desk people were nice and went out of their way for us. One even went to our car that was parked in valet and looked for a pair of sunglasses for us, and brought back our chair so we could take it to the festival. We had heard the room could be noisy so we took our portable sound machine and had no issues with restaurant patrons or other guests coming home later than us and talking loudly in the hall.

Lisa

I liked that there was a valet outside to help us. Staff is minimal & wear several hats though, with the front desk closed in the evening. The room (bathroom in particular) is gorgeous! French doors and beautiful tub with separate shower. The room is VERY DARK and no mirrors. Recommend bringing a light up makeup mirror that can also be used with a water bottle to brighten up the room (Amazon). No frig, no ice machine. I had the ice bucket filled at the bar. Really nice location. Food & service was good at restaurant.

Diane

Only watch out is that you can hear the street noise in the room and nightlife until close to midnight. It's not an issue for us, but if you're noise sensitive, this could be an issue. The room deco is exquisite! The breakfast is simple, just the very basics but enough to start and good quality. The location is fantastic. Ah, I wish they had available water in the lobby. I think that's a very basic treat that every hotel has these days, especially in that zone. But for any reason, they don't.
